Description
Thunderer! This mountain peak was named this for its apparent ability to attract lightening. I had seen this view the previous day and thought how wonderful the scene was, but held off for a little atmosphere. Well today I got it. Very excited about this image and it will definitely go in my gallery. Where I was shooting is close to the north east entrance to Yellowstone. The camera is at 7,300’ of elevation, Thunderer is at 10,500’. There is moose, bear, deer, and Fox in the area. It is a fantasy land, a forest primeval.
The Soda Butte River is running strong and muddy through the image. We have had lots of snow and rain the last week.
The image was shot in 4 vertical frames and stitched creating a 70 megapixel image. The detail is stunning in a large print. Camera was a Sony a6500 with a Zeiss 16-70mm f/4 @24mm. Exposure was f/5.6 1/640 ISO 100.
